These football betting rules explain how Zufan Bet generally settles football markets for customers in Ethiopia. Before placing a bet, check the market name, the time period shown, the event status and any special wording in your bet slip. A specific market rule can take priority over a general explanation on this page. If there is any difference, refer to the applicable Terms and Conditions or contact Zufan Bet for clarification.
Football betting rules at Zufan Bet
The purpose of these football betting settlement rules is to make the result of a bet easier to understand before it is placed. Football markets may refer to 90 minutes, full time, extra time, a penalty shootout or the team that qualifies. Those descriptions are not interchangeable.
Zufan Bet aims to settle football bets according to published market rules and official event data. The final treatment may depend on the competition, market type, event status and the terms displayed when the bet is accepted. Keep a copy of the bet slip and review the wording before confirming an accepted bet.
Standard settlement time: 90 minutes
For many standard markets, 90 minutes football betting means the two normal halves plus referee-added time. Added time, also called stoppage time, is part of the regular match period. It is different from extra time, which is played after the normal match has ended in competitions that require a winner.
Unless the market says otherwise, the following markets are commonly settled on the score at the end of 90 minutes plus stoppage time:
- Match Result / 1X2: home win, draw or away win at full time.
- Double Chance: the relevant two outcomes during the standard match period.
- Total Goals: goals scored during 90 minutes and added time.
- Handicap: the adjusted result during the stated settlement period.
- Both Teams to Score: whether both teams score during that period.
For example, a match level at 2–2 after stoppage time remains a draw for a usual 1X2 market, even if one team wins in extra time. Always confirm the time basis in the market title.
When extra time counts
Extra time football betting is settled differently only when the market or its rules clearly include that period. Wording such as “including extra time”, “to qualify”, “winner of tie”, “team to lift the trophy” or “outright winner” may indicate that the competition’s later stages are relevant.
A bet on Team A to qualify may therefore be decided after extra time and, where the market permits it, after a penalty shootout. A bet on Team A to win the ordinary Match Result or 1X2 market will normally use the 90-minute result instead. The phrase “winner” should not be treated as sufficient on its own; inspect the complete market description.
How penalties are settled
A penalty awarded and scored during normal play or extra time is a match event. It can count toward a goals market when that market includes the period in which the penalty was taken. A penalty shootout is a separate contest after the match and is usually not treated as ordinary match goals.
- Penalty during the match: may count in the applicable goals, result or player market.
- Penalty shootout: normally does not change a 90-minute total or Match Result.
- Qualification or trophy markets: may use the shootout outcome where the rules include it.
For this reason, penalty shootout betting rules must be read together with the exact market wording. Do not assume that a shootout score is added to the football score shown for totals.
Cancelled, postponed and abandoned matches
A cancelled football match bet, a postponed football match betting selection and an abandoned event may be treated differently depending on the published Zufan Bet rules. The relevant policy may refer to a specified number of hours, the next calendar day, completion of the match or the same competition round. The applicable deadline should be checked in the Terms and Conditions rather than assumed.
- If a match is cancelled before kick-off, the affected bet may become void and the stake may be refunded unless another rule applies.
- If a match is postponed before it starts, the bet may remain open or may be void after the stated deadline.
- If play begins and the match is abandoned, settlement may depend on whether the market was already unambiguously decided.
- If the fixture is completed later, the operator may use the completion rule stated for that competition or market.
- If an official result changes after the final whistle, the correction is handled under the applicable Terms and Conditions.
- If the listed date, teams or market contains a material error, the event may be suspended, corrected or cancelled under the relevant policy.
Some selections can have a result determined before an interruption, but this is not an automatic promise of settlement. Check the event status and the specific market rules before relying on a cancelled bet or void bet outcome.
Live football betting settlement
Live football betting rules apply while an event is in progress. Prices may change quickly because of a goal, red card, VAR review, penalty, injury, dangerous attack or other material development. A market can be suspended while the event is checked, and a submitted selection may be accepted, rejected or held for confirmation.
A live bet sent during a significant incident may not be settled at the price first displayed. The system may confirm it at a changed price, reject it, or process it after official event data is received. Visit Zufan Bet live for the available live section, but continue to check the individual market wording and bet status.
Odds changes and bet confirmation
A football odds change can occur between selecting a price and sending a bet. The odds shown in the bet slip are not necessarily final until the bet is accepted and a confirmation is displayed. If the price moves, the system may offer the new odds or reject the submission according to the selected settings and applicable rules.
Before confirming, check the teams, market, selection, time period, stake, odds and possible return displayed in the bet slip. This is especially important for live football, where a market suspension or new event can occur within seconds. A rejected bet is not the same as an accepted bet that is later settled.
VAR, official data and result corrections
Video Assistant Referee decisions can change whether a goal, penalty or red card is recorded. Markets may be temporarily frozen while VAR is reviewing an incident. A goal that is later cancelled, for example, may not count where settlement depends on the official match record.
Zufan Bet may use official event data and may wait for a confirmed official result before completing football bet settlement. If an authorised source later corrects an event or result, the operator’s response will be governed by the applicable Terms and Conditions. For information about the operator’s regulatory and legal framework, see License & Regulation.
Player, cards and corners markets
Player markets, cards and corners can have definitions that differ from match result markets. A market may specify which players are eligible, what counts as a card, or whether only events officially recorded by the relevant competition authority are included.
- Cards: check whether the market includes only players on the field or also coaches, substitutes and bench personnel.
- Corners: settlement generally depends on officially awarded and taken corners, subject to the market definition.
- Player selections: a bet may be void if the named player does not take part, but the Zufan Bet rule for that market must be checked.
- Player goals: an own goal is usually not credited as a goal by the player who scored it for their own team, unless the market rules state otherwise.
Where the definition is not clear, check the specific market rules before placing a bet. Do not infer eligibility or settlement from a television graphic alone.
Examples of football bet settlement
Scenario 1: The score is 1–1 after 90 minutes, and Team A wins 2–1 in extra time.
Settlement: A standard 1X2 selection on Team A to win is normally unsuccessful because that market uses the 90-minute result. A market expressly including extra time may be different.
Scenario 2: Team C and Team D finish 0–0, then Team D wins the penalty shootout.
Settlement: An Over 0.5 total based on 90 minutes normally loses because shootout goals are not added to the match total. A qualification market may be won by Team D if its rules include penalties.
Scenario 3: A scheduled match is cancelled before either team enters the field.
Settlement: The affected selection may be marked void with a refund stake where the relevant cancellation rule provides for that result.
Scenario 4: A live selection is submitted while VAR is checking a possible penalty.
Settlement: The bet may be placed on hold, accepted at revised odds or rejected after the incident is confirmed.
Scenario 5: A bet is placed on Team E to qualify, and the team wins after extra time and penalties.
Settlement: The selection may be successful if the market expressly includes both extra time and the penalty shootout.
Responsible football betting
Football betting should be entertainment, not a way to earn income or recover losses. Set a budget before playing, use available limits and take a pause if betting stops feeling enjoyable. Never stake money needed for essential expenses, and do not chase a previous result.
Information about limits, breaks, self-exclusion and support is available through Responsible Gaming. Only adults who meet the applicable legal requirements may use betting services. Review the Age Restriction Policy and ask for help if gambling is becoming difficult to control.
